Testing for Directional Symmetry in Spatial Dependence Using the Periodogram

چکیده
The characterization of spatial dependence is an important component of a spatial modeling exercise. For reasons of convenience, model parsimony, or computational efficiency, the spatial covariance structure is often assumed to be isotropic (direction-invariant), completely symmetric, or reflection symmetric (the latter two being forms of directional invariance somewhat weaker than isotropy). We propose some diagnostic tests of the latter two properties that are based on the two-dimensional periodogram. An advantage of basing tests on the periodogram rather than the sample semivariogram or covariance function is that the periodogram ordinates corresponding to different frequencies are asymptotically independent, leading to simpler distribution theory. A simulation study and two examples illustrate the usefulness and limitations of the proposed tests.

Evaluation of a BIBD Based Directional MAC Protocol for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks
The use of directional antennas in wireless ad hoc networks can significantly improve global performance due to a high spatial channel reuse. Nevertheless, its introduction poses new location dependent problems related to the MAC protocol. In this paper, the Balanced Incomplete Block Design theory has been exploited to develop a new MAC protocol for wireless ad hoc networks using directional ant...
متن کاملSpatial Dependence with Common Factors: A Case Study of Growth in Iran's Provinces
The economic components of a geographic region, such as its economic growth, are influenced by the spillover effect of other regions’ economic components. In addition to these spatial dependences, there are common factors, such as oil price, that induce a correlation among the economic variables of the geographic regions. Thus, it is necessary to distinguish between the dependence created by th...
متن کاملTESTING FOR “RANDOMNESS” IN SPATIAL POINT PATTERNS, USING TEST STATISTICS BASED ON ONE-DIMENSIONAL INTER-EVENT DISTANCES
To test for “randomness” in spatial point patterns, we propose two test statistics that are obtained by “reducing” two-dimensional point patterns to the one-dimensional one. Also the exact and asymptotic distribution of these statistics are drawn.

Spatial-temporal modeling of air pollutants, ground-level ozone concentrations in particular, has attracted recent attention because by using spatial-temporal modeling, can analyze, interpolate or predict ozone levels at any location. In this paper we consider daily averages of troposphere ozone over Tehran city. For eliminating the trend of data, a dynamic linear model is used, then some featu...
متن کاملNumerical Analysis of Stability for Temporal Bright Solitons in a PT-Symmetric NLDC
PT-Symmetry is one of the interesting topics in quantum mechanics and optics. One of the demonstration of PT-Symmetric effects in optics is appeared in the nonlinear directional coupler (NLDC). In the paper we numerically investigate the stability of temporal bright solitons propagate in a PT-Symmetric NLDC by considering gain in bar and loss in cross. By using the analytical solutions of pertu...
